My Bio
A bartender in Houston, Texas who spends his spare time painting, fighting his beloved wife for his sanity, and idolizing his ride-or-die, an American shorthair named Fritz. His work reflects the comic book and popular culture influences of his youth, mainly manifesting those influences into a lot of cheap, visual thrills, maybe some smut. His art friends, who are all way better than he is, keep on telling him to byte the bullet and move into the digital age and start using computers, but Nick is pretty sure they should get off his case, as he only recently learned how to fucking paint, so get of my damn back about it, I'll get there eventually when I learn how to not stare at my hand like it's the Book of Revelation when I draw... He was born in Waco during the Cold War, and likes to work in themes of the occult, counter culture, and hero worship.

Favourite Visual Artist
Damnit... (sigh) Hewlett, Shirow, Bisley, Warren, Fujisawa, Amano, Lee, Eisner... It goes on.
Favourite Movies
Blazing Saddles.
Favourite Bands / Musical Artists
The Rolling Stones.
Favourite Writers
Shel Silverstein. Stephen King. Lao Tzu.
Favourite Games
Dynasty Warriors. There's just something about rampaging that feels so good.
Favourite Gaming Platform
Arcade. I love the games with machine guns that recoil.
Tools of the Trade
Boredom, a preference, time, space, free will, intelligence, and an openly wild imagination.
Other Interests
Metaphysics, philosophy, psycology, science, rock music, and well made cartoons.

I've gotten to this point where my drawing has gotten really great... I just don't know what to draw. I can't come up with ideas as easy as I could a year ago, nor do I have the patience to flesh them out, which could be because my level of detail has gotten meticulous. I'm recognizing as well that I need to start working in color. And the last thing to add, if I'm going to advance my career as an artist, I need to stop being a broke ass and get a computer with a camera and an image editing program. I'm beginning to make large pieces to sell in art shows as well as selling myself out as a flyer artist. As soon as I can, which is a very sli

Man... I turn 26 next month. I'm going to die soon so I better get busy. Also, I finally got published in a local free newspaper. If you're a Houstonian, and you give a shit, pick up a copy of FPH (Free Press Houston). I've got a new monthly installment and they give me a half a page to work with. I'm pissing myself like a terrified dog, but with joy. On the downside, Hurricane Ike kicked my town in the nuts so I had to leave and go to Tyler for a while. It's very lovely out here, though, so I'm not allowing myself to complain. However, no booze, no smoke for two weeks. When I leave here I'll either be at one with myself or at one with th

Scott McCloud

Scott McCloud is a genius. So after reading his book, Making Comics, I realized that I'm only starting as an artist. I quit. Just kidding, I'm actually going to try and bump up my skill by pulling my focus off of people and try and just draw environments and inanimate objects. I'm good... But not good enough by far. I hate art sometimes... You go out and think to yourself, "Hey, I'm getting good." Then some four year old from Japan doodles the Mona Lisa perfectly from memory and you throw away all your materials, set them on fire, and cry yourself to sleep in the cold, cold shower. Maybe I'm just taking this whole art thing too hard. May
